BRitish Columbia

As a Moondance Trip Leader and Media Apprentice, Kate spent her summer leading outdoor adventures across British Columbia while capturing each experience through photo and video. She balanced leadership, storytelling, and fully living in the moment alongside her students.

Media Apprentice, Moondance

Kate led three two-week sessions with groups of fifteen 13-year-old students, guiding them through outdoor adventure experiences across the province. Alongside two co-leaders, she managed driving, logistics, and risk management while cultivating a supportive and inclusive group dynamic. Her travels spanned the Pacific Northwest — from Seattle to Squamish, Tofino, Comox Lake, and Quadra Island — where she camped, surfed, sea kayaked, rock climbed, canyoneered, and hiked. Throughout the summer, Kate prioritized student growth, sound judgment, and team development, creating meaningful, confidence-building experiences in diverse outdoor environments.

In addition, Kate completed a Media Apprenticeship focused on photography, videography, and storytelling, producing comprehensive visual documentation of multi-week trips. The content she captured was used in Moondance marketing materials, including the organization’s website, print publications, and social media platforms.
